Are you a Carleton University student travelling to an Ontario FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) event this season to either Volunteer or Mentor a Team? If yes, CU FIRST wants to give you a helping hand!

From transportation to accommodations, travelling to a FIRST events to volunteer or mentor a FRC team can be quite expensive. That’s why we’re very excited to offer Carleton students some financial relief and officially open applications for our Volunteer & Mentor Travel Grants!

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled as a student at Carleton University
  • If you are Volunteering:
    • You are registered and assigned as a Volunteer at a FIRST Robotics Competition District Event in Ontario between February 27th, 2019 and April 17th, 2019
    • You successfully passed the FIRST Youth Protection Program screening
  • If you are Mentoring:
    • You are a Mentor for an Ottawa-area FRC Team, and will be attending a FIRST Robotics Competition District Event in Ontario between February 27th, 2019 and April 17th, 2019 with your team

Applications will be accepted from Wednesday January 30th to Wednesday February 27th, 2019 at 11:59PM. Applicants will then be required to submit receipts/proof of payment for their expenses after each event to: volunteer@cufirst.ca. Grants will be issued based on financial need, reimbursing up to 50% of the expenses submitted.

The CU FIRST Executive will review receipts and approve individual grants. The deadline to submit receipts/proof of payments will be Wednesday April 17th, 2019. Grants will be distributed to selected applicants via E-Transfer in Late-April.
